Eddy Current Testing level 1 - Welds


This course provides detailed information on the inspection of welds utilising the Eddy Current Testing method, incorporating the latest equipment. This course is PCN recognised and provides excellent preparation for Eddy Current Testing Level 1 examinations. It meets in full the training hour requirements as specified by the relevant PCN documentation.

Course Objectives

An individual certified to Eddy Current Testing Level 1 has demonstrated competence to carry out Eddy Current Testing according to written instructions and under the supervision of Level 2 or Level 3 personnel. Within the scope of the competence defined on the certificate, Level 1 personnel may be authorised by the employer to perform the following in accordance with Eddy Current Testing instructions:

  • Set up Eddy Current Testing equipment
  • Perform Eddy Current Inspection tests
  • Record and classify results of the tests according to written criteria
  • Report the results of Eddy Current tests

Eddy Current Testing Level 1 certified personnel shall neither be responsible for the choice of test method or technique to be used, nor for the interpretation of the test results.

Identification

You must bring along some form of photographic ID. Please note this should be government issued e.g. Driver’s license or passport.

Prerequisites

  • The candidate must be 18 years of age
  • Complete booking form
  • Meet PCN/GEN requirements

Certification under the PCN scheme is awarded once a candidate has completed the required training, gained the necessary industry experience, and passed the relevant examinations. The minimum requirements are outlined in full in the PCN24/GEN document.

Candidates who are new to the PCN scheme and do not yet hold valid PCN certification or equivalent ISO 9712 certification will need to complete the BINDT online Product Technology course as part of the certification process. This should be completed prior to attending your course at C&D Access, and a certificate of completion will be required.

Candidates who already hold, or have previously held, valid PCN certification or equivalent ISO 9712 certification are exempt from this requirement.

Level 1 – 40 training hours and 45 days experience.

Course Objectives

An individual certified to Eddy Current Testing Level 2 has demonstrated competence to perform NDT according to NDT procedures. Within the scope of the competence defined on the certificate, Level 2 personnel may be authorised by the employer to:

  • Select the Eddy Current Testing technique for the test method to be used
  • Define the limitations of application of the testing method
  • Translate Eddy Current Testing codes, standards, specifications and procedures into Eddy Current  Testing instructions adapted to the actual working conditions
  • Set up and verify Eddy Current Testing equipment settings
  • Perform and supervise Eddy Current tests
  • Interpret and evaluate results according to applicable standards, codes, specifications or procedures
  • Prepare written Eddy Current Testing instructions
  • Carry out and supervise all tasks at or below Level 2
  • Provide guidance for personnel at or below Level 2
  • Report the results of Eddy Current tests

Level 2 – 80 training hours and 180 days experience (direct)
